Microsoft have today revealed that Xbox Series X / S’s ‘Quick Resume’ will give gamers the option to ‘move on’ from unwanted social interaction.

The possibilities for this new technology are ‘endless’, said Phil Spencer, who is currently using it to stop people asking about a Banjo sequel.

The revolutionary new feature  is currently in Closed Alpha, with only select popular streamers / loud people getting their hands on it early. Early reports are promising, with several YouTuber’s noting a 62% decrease in creepy DM’s. It’s another power play by the Xbox brand, who have a long history of supporting accessibility across their devices.

Rumours are swirling that ‘Quick Resume’ may eventually be leveraged to stamp out trolling, and even bad social media takes. Asa, from GameOnDaily, weighed in, saying: “There would be a lot less egg on certain peoples faces if we could just bypass terrible predictions all together…”.

When asked for comment, Jason Schreier used ‘Quick Resume’… and blocked me.

Xbox Series X / S launches on 10th November.

REAL TALK:

I’m fascinated by ‘Quick Resume’ as a genuine next gen feature, and it certainly plays into the narrative that these new boxes will ‘feel’ a lot different.

All the footage we’ve seen demonstrates how markedly different the Xbox Series X / S will be with game loading and switching between titles. I know that when I’m planning out an online session, it would be helpful for everyone to have everything queued up and ready to rock. At first, it seemed somewhat throwaway, but the closer we get to launch, the more enticing it becomes. - JAY TEE
