After achieving phenomenal player numbers and taking Twitch by storm, thatHITBOX can exclusively reveal that indie darling Fall Guys is being powered by the same servers used by DICE for the launch of Battlefield 4.

With a temperamental party system and inconsistent matchmaking, players have been overwhelmed by feelings of nostalgia as developer Mediatonic have struggled to keep on top of the situation.

A press release citing “unprecedented demand for the loading screen of a falling jellybean” has been met with a totally reasonable and understanding response from the entire gaming community, with no negativity or review bombing whatsoever.

xXSlayerTroubleMakerXx sounded off on Twitter, saying “If I wanted to play with my friends, don’t you think I’d have made some friends in the first place?”

A PR representative for DICE replied to our request for comment: “The development team is currently hard at work making next gen wireframes for the next EA showcase, and would prefer you don’t mention our servers, or the horses in Battlefield 1, ever again”.

Fall Guys is available now, for PS4 and PC.

REAL TALK:

I’ve been blown away by the simple pleasures offered by Fall Guys, and in fairness, when it works, it’s an absolute blast.

There seems to be more consistent success in solo play (as opposed to jumping in with a party), and the servers are already on the mend. Their official Twitter account has done a fantastic job of conveying the dev team status and any planned downtime. With plans for ongoing support, there’s a good chance that Fall Guys will be sticking around. - JAY TEE

At the bottom of some of our articles, you’ll see a series of absurd looking images (with equally stupid, in joke laden names). These are the TARP badges, which represent our ‘Totally Accurate Rating Platform’. They allow us to identify specific things, recognise positive or negative aspects of a games design, and generally indulge our consistent silliness with some visual tomfoolery.

WORTH IT?

AND

YEAH!
Fall Guys is a slapstick, silly good time. But you should prepare to eat all the humble pie.

Besides, who doesn’t enjoy sabotaging your friends and seeing them plummet into goo?!

TARPS?

The JUST ONE MINUTE MAN badge is for a game that keeps making you come back for just one more go.

The MAYORAL ELECTION badge is for a game filled with high pressure moments that put your skills to the test.

The KILLJOYS badge is for a game where you can deliberately make it so other players have a miserable time.

The WAR-ROCK! badge is for a game that absolutely deserves ongoing player support.

The LOBBY LAG badge is for when the multiplayer side of things is lacking features, and/or runs very poorly.

The REFELLIAN’S GLOVE badge is for a game that lets you customise your character.

The HOT POTATO badge makes a really clear statement: this game is making waves and you should get on board.
