RUMOUR - Playtonic Friends Is Teasing Something

If it’s Banjo, I’ll implode.

With our expectations kept (mostly) in check, Playtonic Friends (the publishing arm of the similarly named Yooka Laylee devs) is suggesting that… something is happening later today. In a tweet posted at 11.37am this morning, they simply stated: “Today is going to be one hell of a day”.

Now, stick with me here. A certain Amiibo has just released. Xbox have their indie showcase at 4pm GMT. And now a team associated with former Rare devs is tickling the interwebz with the possibility for actual news.

Yes. This is an enormous amount of wishful thinking, but as a huge Banjo fan, Playtonic Friends publishing a Banjo Kazooie sequel alongside an external development partner / Microsoft does make sense. Playtonic get to continue developing Yooka Laylee and doing their own thing, while they also guide another studio to victory.

Or this could be another jolly indie game and a fresh IP. Either way, it’s potentially exciting stuff.
